Filton Abbey Wood Station from Platform 4
This is the third station to have served the local community. The original station, Filton, was opened in 1863 by the Bristol and South Wales Union Railway but closed in 1903 when the Filton Junction Station was opened. In the latter part of the twentieth century services declined with the station buildings and Badminton Line platforms demolished in 1976 with the station closing completely in 1996.
It was replaced by the current station built to service a large Ministry of Defence establishment. Originally with just 2 platforms, a third was added in 2004 and platform 4, from where the picture was taken, was added in 2018.
