This is the latest, and possibly the last, of the office blocks being built on the site of the former railway goods yard off Wellington Street.
Wellington Place, Leeds

This is a triangular site bounded by Wellington Street, Whitehall Road and the River Aire, occupied from the 1850s until 1967 by part of the former Central Station and three goods warehouses of various railway companies (NER, GNR and LNWR/LYR).

The site was developed from c.2000 as a city centre business park. Construction was presumably halted in the post-2008 recession and resumed in 2016, with the major office blocks all complete by 2020 with eight large office blocks, and including the earlier Crowne Plaza Hotel.

The masterplan includes ground floor retail units, cafes, and generous public realm space between the blocks. An old goods wagon hoist remains at the centre of the development as a reminder of the site's former use.
