Hopesay - St Mary's Church
Hopesay - St Mary's Church
The church is Grade 1 listed and dates from the 12th century. A noticeable feature is the solid but low tower which is a feature in this area. The tower is unusual and has a ‘Montgomeryshire dovecote - type’ roof, consisting of a truncated pyramid with a low upright storey and a second pyramid above and may have been used as a refuge from Welsh invaders.
