There is a site of archaeological importance on High Snapes. I wonder if any survey was carried out before this quarry was dug to provide hardcore for the estate roads.
Update: 2 Sept 2020 Mark Windmill has been in touch. He has been in contact with the NYM National Park about this quarry and has received the following email:

Subject: Hutton Ridge possible archaeological damage
Dear Mark
Mel Dalton at North Yorkshire County Council has passed your email on to me since the area you are concerned about lies within the National Park. Thank you for spotting this and getting in touch. We do have a regular monitoring programme for all of the Scheduled Monuments within the National Park so that we have up to date information on their condition which we can pass on to the estates with advice on how to avoid damaging them. However mistakes do sometimes happen so it is as well to check. In this case, there is also a small circular quarry on this part of the moor about 80m to the south of the SW-NE track (to extract aggregate for repairing estate tracks I think), and it is this feature which lies to the west of the public footpath. I am pleased to say that the ring cairn lies amongst the heather much further to the south and at a distance of about 80m to the east of the track used as the public footpath so it appears that no damage to archaeological sites has happened.
Thank you again for reporting the possible incident.
With regards
Mags
