NM7242 : Dearg Allt

taken 17 years ago, 5 km NE of Scallastle, Isle of Mull, Argyll And Bute, Scotland

Dearg Allt
Dearg Allt
The gully of Dearg Allt (Red Stream) marks the contact between the Tertiary lavas to the north (left) and Moine schist to the south. The transition from one rock type to the other is unusually abrupt here, there is virtually no mixing at all.
