Walton Common's hilltop is a key location and has been occupied by ancient people since the Early Bronze Age. This circular earthwork (with an avenue on the other side - hence the term 'banjo') is a late Bronze/early Iron Age construction. Other earthworks include a Saucer Barrow, hut circles and field systems.
