Wartime Defences
Wartime Defences
A long line of tank traps and pillboxes stretched along Roseisle Beach, placed on land only 80 or so years ago. The sea has encroached on the land so much that the defences are now well down the beach and submerged at high tide. But look at the far end and note how the line gets closer and closer to the dunes, showing that the advance of the sea has been much less on the east end of the beach, and beyond that the tank traps hve actually been buried by the sand moving towards the sea.
