Milestones Living History Museum
It seems a shame that some of the lettering on the front of this building has fallen off because inside there is a treasure trove of around 20,000 objects that were either made or used in Hampshire. The museum was opened in 2000 as an initiative between Hampshire County Council and Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund. It is now owned by the Hampshire Cultural Trust. There is a significant collection of road vehicles, including locally built steam traction engines, and a recreation of different buildings including period shops, a pub and a Victorian terraced house.
