Dawyck Mill Bridge
The predecessor to this bridge over the Tweed was built in around 1918 by German prisoners of war held in a camp on the hillside to the south. This was the first main access bridge for the mill and was of timber construction. It was damaged by floods and was replaced by the bridge shown here in 1970. The remains of three timber supports for the old bridge were visible on the far bank immediately downstream, though they were underwater on the day this was taken. Details obtained from 'Bridging the Tweed' by Jim Lyon (author publication 2019).
