Footbridge and Dualled Heads of the Valleys Road, Blackrock
The Clydach Gorge is now its fourth year of road works with the dualling of the A465, Heads of the Valleys Road. Originally constructed in the mid 1960's the previous three lane road was deemed unsuitable and a scheme launched to turn the road into a dual carriageway from Abergavenny to Hirwaun. This is the penultimate section under construction leaving Dowlais to Hirwaun to complete.
Here the road splits into two levels and is crossed by a rust-coloured footbridge.
