Assembly Rooms reopened - Tamworth, Staffordshire
The Assembly Rooms here in Tamworth were first proposed in 1887 to mark the 50th anniversary of the accession to the throne of Queen Victoria. The building opened in 1889 and has been closed for more than three years for a £5 million extension and modernisation programme. The building was Grade II listed on 9th November 1972 by the then English Heritage, now Historic England. The Tamworth Tourist Information Centre is due to move to its new home here in the future.
