Home delivery in self isolation
A local fruit and veg wholesaler has turned retailer with home delivery.
We took delivery of our first combi box of vegetables, salad and fruit today.
It consisted of mushrooms / spring onions / cucumber / beetroot / cress / lettuce / tomatoes / bananas (more than 3) / raspberries / kiwis / pineapple / apples / oranges (various sizes) / 2 x limes / about 7lb dirty potatoes (the best ones) / plenty of carrots / 1 huge leek / 1 very large onion / swede / small red cabbage x 2 / cauliflower / 1/2 lb butter / a sliced loaf / 6 eggs / 2 litre semi-skimmed milk. Suited for 3 people. No choice at present but who cares.
All for £25 delivery, smile included.
The quality was brilliant much better than the local supermarkets with no involved social distancing issues. The delivery man rings the door bell, retreats, unloads and brings to the door step keeping his distance at all times.
We will be using them after this coronavirus - covid 19 issue. Let's hope everyone in this situation will remember these small businessmen - our butcher included. (How much chicken, how many sausages /chops /steaks? - no problem.)
Yes they did and it was one of Japan's earliest adverts on ITV in the (nineteeen) sixties. From the primitive technology of a gas filled light bulb Japanese engineers went on to give us the Playstation - and a bit more besides.
