Parakeet on bird feeder, North Acton
Feral Rose-ringed Parakeets (Psittacula krameri manillensis) originally escaped from collections or private homes and have successfully survived the British climate, breeding and multiplying such that these birds are a colourful but not altogether welcome addition to the wild fauna of Britain.
They also make an appalling noise, which doesn't help to endear them to people, not to mention being a possible vector for psittacosis.
