The former Wilstone pumping station was located between the present Footbridges 4 and 4A on the Wendover Arm. It was built in 1803 and was converted to the cottages called the White House or Whitehouses after its disuse as a pumping station in the 1840's. They survived until after WW2 but were demolished by the then canal authorities as they had no access. Does any one have any photographs of the buildings or their demolition. The site has recently been fenced off for an historical survey to be carried out.
