Two autotrains. Nearer the camera is a train on the Exe Valley line from Exeter to Dulverton; beyond is the 'Tivvy Bumper', the shuttle service to the main line at Tiverton Junction. Both trains are hauled by 14xx class 0-4-2 tank locomotives, 1442 and 1466 respectively. 1466 is taking water for the next leg of the journey.
Auto train

An 'auto' aka 'motor' train, or 'push-and-pull' train ran with cable connections from the driver's special compartment with window at the other end of the train (usually one coach), so that when in pushing mode the driver controlled the locomotive remotely, only the fireman staying on the footplate.
