NZ0796 : Stone building adjacent to Forest Burn

taken 4 years ago, near to Forestburn Gate, Northumberland, England

Stone building adjacent to Forest Burn
Stone building adjacent to Forest Burn
This substantial small stone structure sits close beside the waterfall. Not sure of its origin or purpose. It was certainly built to last; the roof contains three carefully chamfered large stone beams. Shown on old maps beside a railway branch line leading to a drift mine just to the north of this location.
