TL2555 : Power line junction
taken 4 years ago, near to Waresley, Cambridgeshire, England
Power line junction
The distribution line running left and right carries a three-phase supply on three conductors, the loads on each phase being balanced so that an earth return will suffice for the residual current. Two of the phases are tapped at this point to provide a local supply which is carried by twin conductors towards the village of Waresley. There is no transformer on the pole, so clearly both lines here are operating at the same voltage, probably 11kV.
