Great Sheffield Flood Memorial
Great Sheffield Flood Memorial
This stone is in memory of those who lost their lives in 1864 when the dam wall of Dale Dyke Reservoir was breached as the reservoir was being filled for the first time. At least 240 people died and more than 600 houses were damaged or destroyed as water flooded down the Loxley Valley and on to the centre of Sheffield.
