Golf course, Rushmere Heath
Golf was first played on Rushmere Heath in the late 1800s. In the 1920s, Ipswich Golf Club moved from the common land of Rushmere Heath to private land on Black Heath a mile to the south, and in 1927 Rushmere Golf Club was established to continue use of the course here.
