The stump of a metal rope protrudes from an ivy-covered post on the cliff edge east of Pwll Llanddu. In 1883 a telegraphic cable was laid from Blackwater in Co. Wexford to Fishguard and came ashore here. It seems possible this was part of the haulage gear to lift the cable from the beach below. The original cable hut, now a holiday let, can be seen in the field above.
