taken 29 years ago, near to Fethard, Co Tipperary, Ireland

Towers and walls - Fethard, County Tipperary
Towers and walls - Fethard, County Tipperary
Another view of the walls of Fethard - Fiodh Ard meaning High Wood - which date from the 13th century, 1200 - 1299. These are said to be the most complete example in Ireland and indeed in Europe. The wall tower is accompanied by the tower of Fethard's Holy Trinity Church and in the background can be seen the remains of Fethard Castle. This town should not be confused with its southerly namesake Fethard on Sea S 8003 in County Wexford. Time photo taken not available.
