Pulpit Rock - Portland Bill
Pulpit Rock - Portland Bill
Pulpit Rock was formed in the 1870's when quarrymen cut away a natural arch. It was then perceived to look like a pulpit with an open Bible on the top and that is how is got its name. The flat surfaces around the rock are known as the Snail Shore as they contain fossils of shellfish dating back millions of years.
