The nave dates from the late 13th century and the arcade of the vanished north aisle with remnants of its octagonal piers can be seen here on the left. The aisle was demolished in the 16th century and the three original windows reset in the new wall infilling the arches. There never was an aisle on the south side. The chancel was rebuilt in brick in 1733 during the incumbency of the Reverend Henry Trotter, but the present chancel arch and the east window with its gloomy glass date from a later restoration in 1875 by Somers Clarke
