The Creel Loaders Statue Dunbar
The Creel Loaders Statue Dunbar
This statue honours Dunbar's fishing heritage. The women used to carry these heavy creels full of herring, walking 26 miles over the Lammermuirs from Dunbar to Lauder where the fish were sold. Two men used to load the full creels into position on the backs of the women.
