SH7577 : Incline drum-houses

taken 4 years ago, near to Capelulo, Conwy, Wales

Incline drum-houses
Incline drum-houses
Older and newer drum-houses at the head of the western incline which served the main productive bench of the Conwy Stone Quarries. The brick-built structure obviously dates from late in the life of the quarries because it is the only structure in brick, and incorporates pre-cast concrete units. The incline which it worked is now completely lost, apart from some timbering at the edge of the bench. Work was done in remediating a lot of the scree of waste on this side of the quarry during the construction of the A55 Expressway.
