Inside the occupied and ivy covered three storey C19 house is a wooden panel bearing the date of 1591. The castle tower was probably built by the Rossiters of Rathmacknee from whom it was confiscated in 1654 when it was given to the Harvey family. The south wing with stepped battlements and round bartizans on the SE and NE corners are probably additions of the early 17th century. The C19 saw further additions when many new windows were inserted.
