TQ3732 : Site of West Hoathly Station

taken 4 years ago, near to Sharpthorne, West Sussex, England

Site of West Hoathly Station
Site of West Hoathly Station
Opened in 1883, closed in 1958 and demolished in 1967, all that remains are the platforms. When planning permission was granted for an extension of the Bluebell line to East Grinstead there was a stipulation that the station was not to be rebuilt due to local concerns regarding traffic, any future plan to do so would need further planning permission. The site is currently used for storage of maintenance equipment. Viewed from the ridge above Sharpthorne Tunnel.
