Maesbury Hill Fort
Maesbury Hill Fort
Near Croscombe, Somerset. Picture taken from footpath approaching from the north west.
Maesbury Hill Fort or Castle, is an early iron age fort. The name is derived from maes, meaning a field in Brythonic Welsh, and burh, meaning fort in Old English.
As you approach the fort from the north east you cross a disused Roman road.
