Compiled by Brian Robert Marshall

RAF Brize Norton first opened in 1937 and has been in more or less continuous use as a military airfield ever since. In 1953 Brize Norton was taken over by the United States Air Force but in 1965 control reverted to the Royal Air Force. With the closure of RAF Lyneham in 2011, Brize Norton became the main operating base for RAF air transport and in-air refuelling aircraft. More on wikipedia LinkExternal link
