Taken from the south side. Just visible on the right is part of the facade of the Royal Clarence Hotel, which was badly damaged by fire the following year. At the time of writing (August 2020) the site has just been sold and it is planned to restore the facade with a new building behind it. The trees are on Cathedral Green, which covers Roman baths. A plan to re-excavate the baths Link fell through when Lottery money was not forthcoming, around the time this photograph was taken. On the left is the West end of the Cathedral.
SX9292 : Exeter Cathedral. This fine photo also shows to advantage some of the nave's Gothic vaulting, at 300' being the longest unbroken stretch in the world.
