Construction work on the block of shops that will span the railway tracks between the footbridge & Whiteladies Road bridge has just started - the barrier preventing passenger access can just about be made out on the down (RH) platform. So for the time being the buildings on Whiteladies Road can still be seen but not for much longer, see: ST5774 : Clifton Down Station for a vision of the featureless edifice that was to come! This development at Clifton Down was notable in that it was one of several nationwide that were announced c1964 by British Railways Property Board in an attempt to maximise the commercial opportunities of their station sites.
