Castles of Munster: Glensleade, Clare
Little remains of the bawn containing what remains of a tower of which just the north walls remain. The NE corner contains traces of its spiral stair, and beyond this are the slight remains of a projecting wing which may or may not have enclosed the east facing entrance. It was granted to Edmond Barret after its confiscation from Turlough O'Loughlin in 1595, although one wonders if they ever left, as it was back in O'Loughlin hands by 1601. They were however forfeited after the 1641 rebellion when it was granted to the MacNamaras.
