Grave of Thomas Attwood
Thomas Attwood (1783–1856) was a banker and economist and political campaigner, he became one of Birmingham's first MPs, (with Joshua Scholefield) from 1832 to 1839 SP0686 : Statue of Thomas Attwood in Chamberlain Square. He died in 1856 at Ellieslie House in Malvern. He was buried in Hanley Castle churchyard, and oddly the parish register doesn't record it. This may have been by because the Lechmere vicar (the Lechmere family being the local landowners) may not have wanted to draw attention to the grave of a Chartist movement campaigner in Hanley Castle churchyard.
