Sandstone outcrop
Sandstone outcrop
Although the bulk of both Manod Bach and Manod Mawr comprise an outcrop of igneous rock, the lower, southern slopes of both are developed in Ordovician sedimentary strata. These do not look like the slate which is mapped at this point, but perhaps their proximity to the edge of the intrusion has resulted in contact metamorphism. Pretty, all the same!
