Ice-moulded outcrops
Ice-moulded outcrops
There is not a lot of evidence for glacial erosion on Manod Bach, but here there are excellent rock outcrops showing the effect of abrasion by moving ice. If the topography is analysed, Manod Bach stood on the southern flank of an ice stream descending the Vale of Ffestiniog, and it appears that part of the flow was deflected down the valley which now holds Llyn y Manod. This corner of the hill was cutting the ice like a knife, and suffered as a consequence!
