Written by Brian Robert Marshall

Lockeridge Dene and Piggledene is a National Trust property situated in a small valley. It is access land sometimes used as pasture for cattle. Its predominant feature is the presence of numerous sarsen stones of various shapes and sizes. Apparently they are quartzitic LinkExternal link sandstone boulders and they lie scattered around almost but not entirely at random. They provide homes for lichens.
