Pillbox (type FW3/24): EDoB ID: e04371/S0000185

This pillbox is on the south side of the bridge over the River Dove, and with the county border following the course of the river, it means that the pillbox is in Derbyshire. It was built to complement the field gun emplacement on the other side of the river in Staffordshire, and covered the approach over the bridge from the north. A component part of the Western Command Stop Line No 5 (Tamworth to Burton-on-Trent and thence by River Dove to Ashbourne).
