Enormous crane on the Carrington Bridge dualling project
The crane on the left is pretty big by most standards but the one on the right is a monster. It is a Gottwald AK 680-3. The basic unit weighs 112 tonnes and it 22.2 metres long on the road. The lifting capacity is given as 650/1200 tonnes depending on configuration. As seen configured here it can take a counterweight of up to 195 tonnes (on the cables dangling to the left) and the main jib can be 35-107 metres long. The jib on the left for the counterweights is 43 metres long. The counterweights are to the left and the weight was being adjusted by the smaller crane. The huge girder to the right is the next to be lifted in place and by my estimation is the second of six. One had already been hoisted into place. Two workers in orange hi-vis are seen near the containers to the bottom right.
