SD9896 : Footpath to Hops House

taken 3 years ago, near to Crackpot, North Yorkshire, England

Footpath to Hops House
Footpath to Hops House
The generally invisible footpath from Haverdale to Birks End crosses this field to a small gated stile that is exceptionally hard to spot - even having located it once, I almost failed to see it from twenty metres closer. It's in the dip in the wall mid-right-hand-half of the photo, below the descending sunlit wall. The path then continues up to Hops House where the map show it diagonalling up to cross the little stream well above the house. Waymarking suggests otherwise, however, and takes you close to the house to a tiny footbridge above the ford on the track serving the house. Beyond that, one ends up on a bridleway, so where exactly the footpath really goes is far from clear. Almost any route will then take you up to the road, however.
