Built by the Cairo Mill Co in 1903 and extended 1914. Architect P S Stott. Spindleage in 1954 was 53,442 mule, 37,416 ring and 10,940 doubling. Ceased production 1958 and re-opened as Ferranti electronics factory in 1962. Information for Gurr & Hunt, The Cotton Mills of Oldham.

Arthur Roberts gives the engine details as - 1000 horsepower inverted vertical triple expansion steam engine by George Saxon. 18.5", 29" & 47" x 4' stroke. 180 psi, 75 rpm. 22' diameter flywheel.

The engine was in the projecting engine house with rope drive to the mill.
