Huntington Castle
This castle was founded in 1216 as the successor of Kington Castle, and the village of Huntington grew around this castle during the 13th and 14th centuries. Huntington Castle was originally in Wales from the 13th century until 1535, when Henry VIII settled the border of England and Wales. The castle went into ruins after 1403 and by the English Civil War the castle was useless as a defensive site. By 1670 the stone keep was still standing on top of the motte although it has collapsed since. The castle now consists of two fragments; one of them is a fragment of the castle walls (which can be seen to the right of this photo) and the other remain is a tower that was possibly attached to the castle wall.
