The PLUTO Pavilion, Brown's Golf Course
The PLUTO Pavilion, Brown's Golf Course
The golf course's power house and pumping station built in the 1930s, now a Grade-2 listed building to recognise the role it played in the support infrastructure for PLUTO (Pipeline Under The Ocean), the Allies' ambitious project to deliver fuel to the D-Day landing forces in 1944. Several large pumps serving the 70-mile pipeline across the English Channel were hidden in other buildings on and near the golf course.
