Cambridge; former home of the Fawcett family, Brookside
This house was the home of Dame Millicent Fawcett (1847-1929), the suffragist and co-founder of Newnham College, and her husband Henry Fawcett (1833-1884), Liberal MP and Postmaster-General.
Millicent Fawcett was a member of the Garrett family of Eastern Suffolk; her sister Elizabeth Garrett Anderson was a pioneer woman doctor and the first woman to be elected Mayor of an English town.
The house now forms part of the Heritage School.
