ST4441 : No more Countryman

taken 16 years ago, near to Meare, Somerset, England

No more Countryman
No more Countryman
The letterbox and telegraph pole are the same as in the photo ST4441 : The Countryman. But the Countryman pub was closed and quickly demolished in 2007 - another example of rural pubs (and other services) disappearing before our eyes.
The site has been cleared, earth banks put in to discourage vehicles, and later, temporary fencing to keep people out too.
