Cairn on Harecleugh Hill
What myth can I bestow upon sic a pile o' stanes?! It is very close to the marked summit of the hill upon which it rests: it seems to have been enveloped by no narrower ride so it may be more recent than the trees: it is not very skilfully built so is unlikely to be a relict of the sheep-farming industry as such neighbouring relicts testify, even in dereliction, by their delicacy in drystane: the protruding timber may indicate signage as its raison d'etre; or perhaps it is an early example of that annoying/inspiring (depending on one's spleen) modern habit of erecting piles of stones at favoured spots like the layby over-looking Loch Loyne on the road to Skye
NH1804 : Inukshuk in Western Scotland?,
NH1804 : Memory stones !! There is a great number of cairns in these hills.
