I sat opposite Beeston Tor eating my lunch many years ago as a very large school group gathered beneath it and were addressed by someone who I took to be their teacher. To my amazement he went on to explain to the group that the whole outcrop was a fossilised beehive! I thought he would go on to say 'only joking!' but he didn't. Quite possibly there are still a number of folk out there wandering around believing this to be the case!
