Summit rocks, Swirl How
Summit rocks, Swirl How
On a week long trip (after second year university exams) spent mostly rock climbing, we are just moving camp from Dow Crag (near Coniston) to Great Langdale. This photograph was taken at the summit of Swirl How, by which time, most of our day's ascent was done, though we still had the best part of five miles downhill and the road down from Wrynose pass I remember (43 years later) as being particularly wearing with big rucksacks. The view looks down to the old Greenburn reservoir and beyond to Little Langdale.
