NS9566 : The Track from Hall Torbane Farm

taken 3 years ago, near to East Whitburn, West Lothian, Scotland

The Track from Hall Torbane Farm
The Track from Hall Torbane Farm
The track follows the path of an old mineral railway line that used to serve a coal mine, which was situated around 200 yards SouthEast of the farm, and fireclay pits, which were situated just South of where the track now meets the A706. The mine - referred to as Northrigg Colliery Pit no.7 on newer maps, and Northrigg Colliery Pit no.1 on older ones, though it looks to be set up exactly the same - must have been operational until fairly recently as it is still shown as a working mine on 1960s OS maps.
