Lower Foxton Limestone 3
Lower Foxton Limestone is divided into a series of posts (layers) some of which are blocky purer limestone divided by thinner layers of lime-shale, which gives you the multiple pavements you can see in the image.
Information from Dr Ian Kille, who with Helen Page has produced a booklet with pictures and maps, 'Northumberland Coast Rocks!' with interesting geological things to look out for on seashore walks between Holy Island and Alnmouth.
