The old Blind Man's Gate gatekeeper cottage
My grandparents lived here for over 50 years alongside the East Suffolk line. This old building, a traditional cottage for the line with its roof-diamond, is very close to the line as I well remember - those class 37s running from Lowestoft to Liverpool Street would wake anything when they rumbled past... The furthest window was a bedroom window and yes, you had to be a sound sleeper to stay there! The building was knocked down in the early 2000s.
